Gimbal Expansion Joint

Gimbal Expansion Joint

Product Overview

Gimbal Expansion Joints are specially designed metallic bellows fitted with a gimbal structure (a pair of hinged rings connected by a gimbal mechanism) that allows the joint to absorb angular rotation in multiple planes. Unlike simple hinged joints, gimbal expansion joints are capable of accommodating angular movement in any direction, making them ideal for complex piping systems and three-dimensional pipe loops.

They are engineered to restrain pressure thrust, ensuring only movement loads are transmitted to pipe anchors, thus reducing overall stress on the system.

Key Features

✅ Absorbs angular movement in multiple planes

✅ Restrains pressure thrust via gimbal ring system

✅ Ideal for use in pipe loops with multiple directions of expansion

✅ Designed per EJMA / ASME standards

✅ No axial or lateral movement (unless part of a multi-joint system)

✅ Robust design for high-temperature and high-pressure environments
